Tjong A Fie Mansion
Tjong A Fie was a well known Chinese merchant born in 1860 at Sungkow village of Meixen Province. At the age of 18, he left his village and after sailing for months he arrived in Medan. Tjong A Fie made a fortune and not only that, he was also a well-respected leader during his time. Tjong A Fie Mansion at Kesawan was built in 1890. Today the mansion serves as a museum displaying all Tjong A Fie's memorabilia.

Toba Lake was formed by a stupendous prehistoric volcanic explosion. The eruption was 75,000 years of age and left a spectaculer caldera with wonderful landscapes. Toba Lake is the largest volcanic lake in Southest Asia, with a gigantic size of 1,265sq km and a depth of over 450 m. The climate in the Toba highlands is cool and refreshing. The soil is very fertile and the highlands have been inhabited for centuries.
Berastagi is a former Dutch Hill Resort, 66 km away from Medan, at an altitude of 4,600 feet. It is cool and pleasant town.
