Tjong A Fie was a well known Chinese merchant, born in 1860 at Sungkow village of Meixen Province. At the age of 18, he left his village and after sailing for months, he arrived in Medan.
Tjong A Fie made a fortune and not only that, he was also a well-respected leader during his time. Tjong A Fie Mansion at Kesawan was built in 1890. Today, the mansion serves as a museum displaying all Tjong A Fie's memorabilia.
